While most of us associate owls with wisdom - symbolism that dates back to Greek mythology - Early Christians associated them with solitude and mourning. This mindset changed in the Victorian Era, with use in popular nursery rhymes (The owl and the pussy cat went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat”) and brought them back full circle to again represent wisdom, libraries and learning.
Here we have a wonderful tribute to the magical owl sitting atop a branch of a bamboo tree. The coin measures approximately 17mm and total pendant size will vary depending on the bezel selected.
