Among the 5,000+ antique love tokens in our collection, one request we can almost never fulfill: the zodiac. In ten years we've found perhaps one — plus a lone engraved scale that may have belonged to a Libra, or to a judge. (Paired with a token engraved "The Judge," it went home with a lawyer. The meaning of a love token is always in the eye of the beholder.)

So we made our own, drawing on the ironwork of New Orleans — where a gate might hold an owner's life story, a meddling father's proclamation of his daughter's singleton status, or symbols of the departed in the cemeteries. Rarely decoration alone; sentiment, encoded in metal, the same instinct behind our Love Stories and Lock Stories.

Every sign rendered twice — once for each month it spans, with that month's gemstone. A Gemini born in May wears emerald; born in June, pearl. Then it's a collaboration: your hardstone, your gemstones, the birthstones of those you love.
