Celestial Stories

Many people are familiar with the decorative iron work that is seen throughout New Orleans, but what may be less known is that often there is a story behind the design.  Whether it be an owner’s life story writ in cast iron, a meddling father’s proclamation of his daughter’s singleton status, or symbols of the departed on custom gates fencing off tombstones in New Orleans’ cemeteries, antique ironwork is purposeful and rarely executed for decorative purposes only.  This echoes both our Love Stories and Lock Stories collections, and as such she incorporated elements of decorative ironwork into the Zodiac designs, with the signs themselves as symbols and the inspiration and unknown facts of ornamental wrought iron as the story.
